Magnolia Farm is a restored plantation, open to tourists, outside Charleston, South Carolina. I visited in March 2013, looking for how the story of South Carolina’s past was presented. One shot here is of a restored slave cabin. In the signs and plaques for visitors, however, slavery is absent from history and the theological quandaries of the pious antebellum owners.
