This news clip from Al-Jazeera English, broadcast on March 12, 2012,  shows a key change in Taliban tactics during the height of the war in Afghanistan. The video shows Taliban leaders explaining a shift in targets from U.S.-led coalition forces to members of the Afghan Security Forces and Afghan National Police. This decision emerged from the announced drawback of U.S. troops in the region. Taliban forces started recruiting members of Afghan forces under threat of death to the members and even their families. These recruitment methods provide insight into the threats facing Afghan nationals who dared offer assistance to the coalition, whether in uniform or serving as translators and interpreters for foreign forces.
